CI Tobar Gweedore

Where is the programme based?

The programme is based in CI Tobar which is in the Gweedore Business Park, Derrybeg. We also have a Satellite Hub which is based in the Community Centre in Ionad Naomh Fionnan Commuity Centre in Falcarragh. 

Who is the programme for?

The programme is for individuals over 18 years who have a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability and/or Autism.

How can someone get on the programme?

Someone can get on the programme by contacting the Occupational Guidance Officer. ( If you do not know who this is you can contact CI Tobar directly and we can give you the details)

Cost of the programme

There is no cost for the programme. However if you use Local Link transport to and from the service this will cost €3 per day

What supports are available?

The supports of a multi-disciplinary team are available if required. This includes:

Social worker ; Psychologist ; physiotherapist; occupational therapist; nurse; psychiatrist

What activities make up the programme?

A number of activities are on offer.

Programmes

In CI Tobar there are  3 programmes available:

  • CI Alpha
  • CI Aspire
  • CI Connect

 

Certification

Currently training is provided to enable you to achieve:

QQI Level 1&2 certification in a range of activities

In-house certification in a number of activities eg. First aid, swimming, walking

How long can someone stay on the programme?

An individual may remain on the programme until they reach the age of 65 years, providing that the programme is continuing to cater for their specific needs.

Is the programme full-time or part-time?

An individual can participate in the programme on either a full-time or a part-time basis depending on their needs and the type of service they require.

Is there a waiting list for the programme?

At this time there is no waiting list for the programme

Additional Information

The aim of CI Tobar is to help service users to become more familiar with their community and to have a more active role in their community. CI Tobar provides service users with a range of opportunities, experiences and supports in order to maximise their independence and quality of life. CI Tobar helps to increase the confidence and skill levels of all participants. The skills learned in a centre setting are then put into practice in a community setting.
