The Pathway to Attending DCITS

Please note that the referral pathway for our eco-therapy service, Solas, can be found on our Solas website. Our TACA programme referral process can be a self-referral.

For other services, the pathway to attending is outlined below.

HOW TO ATTEND A DCITS SERVICE

Step 1

If you are already in your final year of school or if you have already finished school and are being referred into the service, an occupational guidance officer will be in touch with you.

Step 2

The occupational guidance officer will meet with you and your school teachers, support staff, and family to discuss which service best supports your needs.

Note!

Please note that your service location will depend on your individual needs and the supports you require.

Step 3

If your desired location is within DCITS and DCITS has the supports necessary to meet your needs, the occupational guidance officer will complete a profiling tool and use this to help identify the centre that is the best match for you in terms of your support needs, where you live, and your own wishes.

Step 4

The programme coordinator of the centre you have been referred to will link with you to complete additional assessments and to create a transition plan for you to prepare to enter the service.

Step 5

Your transition sampling plan will commence. This will consist of you visiting your service centre on certain, planned days and participating in some activities as you prepare to attend full time on your start date.

Step 6

You will get a start date at your service centre location and you’ll be given an induction into the service, along with an induction handbook for you to refer to at any time.
